St. Louis-based Cave States have their new studio album, True Life, out April 29th. Featuring members of Magnolia Summer (Chris Grabau), Half Knots (Danny Kathriner) and Nadine (Todd Schnitzer), the group’s collective sound has been favorably compared with the likes of Will Oldham, The Jayhawks and Jason Molina; BLURT reviewed the band’s debut album, 2013’s The Great Divide, noting “Any sense that this is simply an ad hoc collaboration quickly dissipates as those sweet songs roll on, all testimony to the innate, intimate beauty inherent in these grooves.”
With that in mind, we are extremely pleased to be able to unveil a track from the upcoming record, “No Words”
Notes songwriter Danny Kathriner, of the track, “The song essentially expresses the highs and lows of a close relationship. The rare moments that two people are on the same page and feeling mutually in love are very special. This song reflects the anxiety and anticipation for that moment to come around.”
When Cave States came together a few years ago, each member had already achieved his own measure of indie acclaim; each brought a unique skillset to the table, along with his own fanbase. The collaboration has since proven an equally unique blend of sonic nuance and aesthetic sensibility. They will be performing to support the new album—find out tour dates and more info at their Facebook page.
